What is Oh, Mary Off-Broadway about?

Mary Todd Lincoln is best known and remembered as the wife of Abraham Lincoln. But what were her dreams when she wasn’t standing dutifully beside him as First Lady? In this deliciously dark comedy, discover the unrequired yearnings, alcoholism and buried desires of Mrs Lincoln in the weeks leading up to her husband’s assassination. It’s a one-act play that finally examines the woman next to one of US history’s most famous figures, and it’s all told through the wacky lens of an idiot named Cole Escola.

Writers Guild of America Award winner Cole Escola writes and stars in their new Off-Broadway comedy, following up work including Hacks, At Home With Amy Sedaris and The Other Two. They are directed by Tony Award nominee Sam Pinkleton (Untitled DanceShowPartyThing; Soft Power) alongside a cast including Conrad Ricamora as Mary’s Husband, James Scully as Mary’s Teacher, Bianca Leigh as Mary’s Chaperone and Tony Macht as Mary’s Husband’s Assistant.
