About the Marquis Theatre
A comparatively new venue for Broadway, the Marquis Theatre is nestled on the third floor of the stunning Marriott Marquis Hotel on West 46th Street. Despite its youth, a variety of musicals have made their mark at the venue since it opened in 1986.
When the Marriott Marquis was built on the site of several demolished theaters, developer John Portman was asked to incorporate a new venue into his designs. With high ceilings, modern acoustics and comfortable seats (not to mention extra restrooms), the Marquis Theatre is a thoroughly modern addition to Broadway.
Since opening with Me and My Girl (1986), the Marquis Theatre has seen a host of notable productions including Gypsy (1991), Annie Get Your Gun (1999), Thoroughly Modern Millie (2002) and Evita (2012). In recent years, crowd-pleasers including The Illusionists (2014, 2018) have continued to draw audiences to the Marquis Theatre.
