Savoy Theatre

An uproarious musical comedy about con artists scamming rich people in the French Riviera, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels arrives at the West End's Savoy Theatre after a successful Broadway run.

Based on the 1988 film of the same name, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels is a musical by power duo, David Yazbeck and Jeffrey Lane.

After winning a Tony Award in 2005, the show transfers to London’s Savoy Theatre in early 2014, starring Rufus Hound, Katherine Kingsley, Samantha Bond, John Marquez and Robert Lindsay.

Set along the glamorous French Riviera, two conmen, Lawrence and Freddy, are competing with one another to scam women out of sizable chunks of money. The pair soon meet their match when con artist, “The Jackal,” is in town. After meeting the beautiful and totally ditzy “American Soap Queen,” Christine Colgate, the pair make a bet that the first to swindle her out of $50,000 will be the ultimate trickster, with the loser having to leave town. The game is on as the two try to trick their way to Christine’s heart. Will one of them succeed or will they end up destroying their own dastardly plans?

Dirty Rotten Scoundrels features spectacular choreography by Jerry Mitchell as well as fantastic musical number such as ‘Great Big Stuff’, ‘Oklahoma?’, ‘Like Ziz/Like Zat’ and ‘Dirty Rotten Number’.

Critical response for the shows original run was warm, with the production receiving two Laurence Olivier Award Nominations. Following the closure of the show at the Savoy Theatre in March 2015, the show embarked on a vast UK tour. Notable cast replacements included Alex Gaumond for the role of Freddy Benson, Bonnie Langford for the role of Muriel Eubanks and Gary Wilmot for the role of Andre.
